This years summer vacation was again a trip out west to Colorado. This time, I was accompanied by VSA for her first trip to the Rocky Mountains.
We flew into Denver on Friday night and spend the weekend with Colorado Kid.
On Sunday, we left Denver and headed for Salida, where we would rent mountain bikes and ride along the Colorado Trail and the CDT.
The next day was a very cool touristy day in Leadville where we toured the old mines of the area. Beautiful views and old structured dominated the landscape.
Finally, we headed to Aspen for a backpack in the spectacular Maroon Bells Wilderness, by far the most amazing scenery in Colorado that I have seen.
The trip conculded with a visit to Indian Peaks Wilderness, where we were lucky enough to get a nice campsite and enjoy the views for two days. We hiked up to Pawnee Pass on Sunday morning before flying back to NH later in the afternoon. A great sub at Snarf! in Boulder put us in the right mood before heading to Denver International Airport.
